You’ve been in suspense, I know.

There wasn’t much in South Dakota worth blogging about. And I’ve been preoccupied since I got home Friday. Caught up on sleep, went and saw Dan do a great set at Bedrock. Then I met up with C yesterday and saw the exhibit of images from the Hubble space telescope at the Walters Art Gallery – really small exhibit, only one room, but absolutely gorgeous (see illustration).
Tomorrow, however (this time I mean it), you’ll get to hear my thoughts about this. Having nearly lost a limb myself, I feel that you’ll all be required to give extra weight to my opinion. (Let’s politely ignore that getting hit by a car suggests stupidity rather than scientific insight). If I get it together in time, I’ll include gnarly x-ray images from my shattered arm. This also suggests a new tattoo idea: a salamander.
And maybe I’m still a 10 year old boy at heart, but there is no way in hell I’m going to miss this.
And, one last aside. This was just on TV a little while ago and made me laugh, so I had to include it. These commercials make me high.
From South Dakota…
March 27, 2008 on 12:29 am | In travel | No CommentsA real update will follow tomorrow, I promise, and replace this one. You’ll get pictures and science and maybe even some enthusiasm. Tonight I’m poised to actually get a few hours of sleep, which to me is a big deal. Goodnight, blogosphere!
Who killed the electric car? Not me!
March 16, 2008 on 8:36 pm | In culture | No CommentsSorry about the dearth of posts lately, but if you’re interested in the Bad Religion bootleg I mentioned last time, you can download that here (.mp3) or here (lossless .flac). To see the videos, check out my YouTube channel. In other news, check out what I bought last week! She’s a 2008 Toyota Prius, and her name is Penny:

San Diego
March 10, 2008 on 12:43 pm | In culture, travel | No CommentsOver the past two days, Don and I have been traveling around the San Diego area (mostly just downtown S.D.). We got here on Saturday, and we saw Bad Religion at the House of Blues that night and last night. Both shows were phenomenal, and included a lot of songs from their older albums. I got a decent bootleg of Saturday’s show which you can download here. We gotta check out of our hotel now, so I don’t have time to write more – I’ll give you a better update tomorrow!
Man, vacation is great. Even if it’s just three days.
An Update
March 6, 2008 on 4:49 pm | In politics, science | No CommentsHere’s a quick update, since I’ve been so damn busy lately. I realize I broke one of my new years resolutions; I let more than 7 days pass since my last blog post. A lot has gone on during the last few weeks. The democratic presidential nomination contest has continued, with Clinton nabbing three states but barely denting Obama’s delegate lead. I’ll have more to say about that later.
There have also been some science topics I’ve wanted to ponder aloud in this blog, some of which were raised by the astronomy course I’m taking, which has proved to be very interesting so far. I effin love special relativity.
In other news, yesterday I became the proud new owner of a 2008 Toyota Prius. It has neat gadgets like bluetooth connectivity for hands-free phone calls with voice activated dialing. It is super-duper cool. You can expect a giddy post with pretty pictures soon. And all it cost me was five years of financial servitude to SunTrust bank!
